Rusty Lake Hotel reminded me a lot of some flash games I used to play on Newgrounds many years ago, they had a different logic and tone that is different from more conventional point n' click games. They were mostly short games about escaping from a serial killer's basement and rather sinister in nature.
Also, the puzzles are not convoluted at all and there's no pixel hunting so that's another plus in my opinion.
All things considered, I think Rusty Lake Hotel is a good game to kill a couple of hours on and the price is right for a short experience like this.
