I played this out of morbid curiosity for how much the original held up compared to any of the newer entries I had played. To my surprise, the game was mostly fun. I enjoyed it up until the last few dungeons which were very frustrating, especially the last one leading up to your climactic fight with you-know-who. I played this on the Switch virtual console and I legitimately do not know how 80’s kids got past some of these rooms without save states(especially the ones with both armored enemies and fireball statues).
