Open world games are usually pretty boring to me. With the exception of Prototype and Infamous, I never appealed to them as much. Then Spidey happened. I'd liked the web slinger as a kid, mainly consuming through his (mostly mediocre) tie-in games. Spider-Man 2018 was everything I could've ever dreamed of, having not grown up with Treyarch's 2004 tie-in to Spider-Man 2. Phenomenal web traversal that made me never use the fast travel, fun combat that takes a note out of the Arkham series books - another series I need to admittedly get around to playing - complete with gadgets to help take down baddies. There's even by-the-books stealth that's serviceable, can't complain too much about it.

In the way of criticisms, I can't think of many. A few side tasks may have been a little repetitive, but the slow rollout to getting these tasks early on, i.e. the crimes, research labs, etc. cushioned the blow. I also thought the sections of gameplay with two characters were decent at best, but if that's all I have to say in the way of critiques, that tells ya how good Spider-Man is.

While I am gonna play through the side content and attempt going for 100%, I'll say in the way of the main storyline and its content that Spider-Man is a really stupendous title, not just as an open world, but a pretty high mark in the webhead's game library. With an amazing narrative and spectacular traversal and gameplay, Spider-Man is ultimately a pretty good time! Pardon the terrible nods to titles, I'll see myself out.
