Played the original on Xbox 360 years ago back in 2014, 13 year old Antihero wasn't exactly patient enough for the game so he kinda gave up on it. All these years later, it felt very good to finish this game top to bottom, defeating all the bosses. Dark Souls is a wonderful game, it really is. Yet its second half is evidently rushed to the point of being a 4/5 game.
Still a very solid game with its interconnected level design, immersive mechanics, and slow, but satisfying combat, its let down by its second half being a choppy "Kill the 4 big bads" without the flow the game had early on. Its DLC does some pretty good lifting, providing some of the most challenging bosses in the game. Subsequent replays might convince me to bump it up to a 4.5, but I think this first proper playthrough was full of some brilliant highs and disappointing lows. Dark Souls is a really well done game for what its worth, and absolutely worth your time.
