A lot more VN than it is game, which ends up being a downside because the story and characters aren't great, though there are some good beats(surprisingly most present on the bad ending route).
Eating dragons and gaining new abilities with their cores is quite fun and makes for a solid reason to not avoid every encounter and to use every character a fair bit. It's really fun once you assemble a set of synergistic abilities to make you massively overpowered and able to one-shot everything except bosses, though I would save doing this for the post game because it does trivialize all combat.
