While it may not reinvent the RPG wheel so much, it does very charmingly simple things to do with that wheel. Only downside dragging it down is how backtrack heavy it gets in the second half of the game. There's one tedious section where you have to go back and forth to every world you visited to look for somebody and that was just painful. Might prefer Bowser's Inside Story as the quintessential Mario RPG (have to check out Super Mario RPG too), but this stands pretty tall too.
