The ultimate collaboration between Sega and Nintendo and the absolute best game in the series. The games controls are absolutely unbelievable, I love how this game feels to play. The speed is just so insane in this game and it's absolutely brutal, but that's what makes winning feel so incredible. This is also a game where all of the game modes feed into eachother well. I love how doing grand prix gives you more points for the story, and how the story unlocks more tracks, and how you can spend points at the garage for insane vehicle customization. The music and look of the game is so sublime, really adding to that feeling of a cutthroat balls to the wall Sci fi world. I haven't completed the story because my memory card corrupted when I was on the final level, but all of it is super rewarding to complete. It's absolutely frustrating but it's a ton of fun and I think the brutality of it adds a lot of charm to the experience. Honestly, this game is a masterclass and the peak of its genre.
