SMB3 is an exemplary platformer, a fantastic sequel, and one of those games everybody should play at least once. The game has pretty much everything you could have wanted in a new Super Mario game back then: an array of new powerups, more intricate level design (including multi-directional screen scrolling), greater enemy and boss variety, minigames, secrets and alternate paths... Tie it all up with the new world maps, and you've got a game that set a high bar for the entire platformer genre.
