To play Cocoon is to experience puzzle-solving in a way you never have before. Nothing here is too difficult (unless you want to figure out the near-impossible secret ending), yet the way the game slowly ramps up its cleverness is very comfortable and exciting. The game does a good job of blocking off old areas so you aren't completely lost.

The level design and structure is insanely well-thought-out and the score is atmospheric and immersive. Contextual, environmental detail gives slight narrative implications, even though the story, or lack thereof, is quite ambiguous.

Simply put, solving puzzles is fun, and the musical flourishes that play when you overcome a tricky puzzle are extremely satisfying. The abilities you gain are also very unique compared to the usual progressive power-ups you'd expect, especially for a game whose control scheme is movement with the stick and a single interact button.

Cocoon is uncompromising and doesn't waste your time. One of the most fully-realized puzzle games ever made with a few surprising moments that will blow your mind. A must-play.
