Call Of Duty Games Ranked
In my first CoD review, I asked how a series that changed so much and have entries that take place in so many different time periods be samey. Now I have an answer, it's because of pacing and general attitude the games have.
All the games move at super fast speed and want to impress you with their dumb plots and set pieces so they all end up playing the same whether you can double jump or not, I didn't play WW2 any different from AW despite this one using med kits instead of regenerating health and taking place in WW2 instead of the future and that's a big issue for this series. What a series like CoD needs is a game that can slow the general pace all the way down and actually spend time building up the conflicts and battles that happen in these games, a loading screen narration isn't enough despite what a lot of these games between 2007-2013 would tell you.
These games treat the player like fuckin morons and it makes the whole experience unlikeable, I don't need to press F to feel bad for a character dying nor do I need to be told like 15 bloody times about how detection works in the game I got it the first time.
3 different devs make games in this series and yet all the ways they differ from one another is surface level because none of them offer different experiences. For the last 10 years now these games have been stuck in the same loop of mediocrity. Sometimes the games end up being better, most of the time worse, but ultimately all of them failed to leave a mark on me whether I generally enjoyed them or not.
