I know praising the original Mega Man X is nothing new or unique, but it has to be my absolute favorite retro era game by a long shot. It is probably the tightest gaming experience I've ever played, being easily 100%able in 2-4 hours. While many (including myself) find it difficult and frustrating on their first go, it is extremely rewarding to increase your mastery of the challenges the game presents. It also of course features one of the bangerest of banger soundtracks in ant game. While I have yet to play X4, this game shines brighter than any of it's sequels that I've played thus far. (I listed the platform as SNES as I do own the original cart, but I played on Switch and PC through the Legacy Collection.)
