Man oh man, where to start. I've been away from the game for a few months now since release, waiting for the itch to go back. Unsurprisingly, it hasn't struck with things like Shadow of the Erdtree on the horizon.
To start off, this game has really fun gameplay, leaning on the successes of its predecessor. It also generally looks beautiful (if you got the gc/cpu to handle it). Unfortunately, this game suffers MAJORLY in the narrative department, with super unengaging "dialogue" that was ruined for me once I realized how badly synced the dialogue was to the play models (I know, probably translation). Even if it was synced, it was incredibly dry for something that was advertised to be much more of a core element to the experience. Don't even get me started on companion commentary. To end on a positive note, this game has the greatest character customization tool I've ever used, which I found to be a huge plus. I hope to eventually be drawn back to finish the incredibly dull story.
