I love this game more than I should. Smash always feels like a celebration of gaming, and this is no exception. World of Light feels a little weaker than Subspace Emissary in that regard, however.

I do enjoy this game from a competitive standpoint but I understand that it's not necessarily the devs' intention to service this audience. That being said, I think this game does the best job so far of sating both competitive and casual players. However, the last balance patch was done far too soon after release of the dlc characters, which is just poor planning. Additionally, the online matchmaking is godawful and I have to pay 20 bucks a year for Nintendo to match me with players whose router shuts down at the slightest interference with their microwave. This franchise invented the platform fighter and they have the added bonus of the greatest roster in a fighting game. This is where my frustration comes in - if you want deeper, more meaningful gameplay with more modern netcode, you'd have to either play melee (borderline illegally according to Nintendo) or look to traditional fighting games.
