To everyone who hates this game all of a sudden, screw off! This is an innovative classic, and it's one of the most fun and exciting arcade titles that I've played. The controls take a while to get used to, but once you start to get them, you'll be having a blast. The attacks and jumps are extremely satisfying to pull off, and the vertical layouts of the levels here make it stand out quite a bit from its peers. Strider is also pretty challenging, but it's also not too frustrating like other arcade games from around that time. I've beaten this more times than I can count, and I still love it. I'll never understand the recent hate for a lot of these old Arcade classics. I mostly play the Genesis version, which is a fantastic port. Stay away from the PlayStation one. It's very lazily made.

I actually appreciate the bonus costumes in the ps1 port, don't remember it being half bad but the genesis version has so many lil quirks that add up it's def my fav

My main issue with the PS1 port is how much it randomly halts the game to load, right in the middle of gameplay. It got really annoying, and you'd think a PS1 game could run better than the version on the Genesis which was from the console of the previous generation. The costumes were pretty sweet though.

I kind of feel bad because I didn't really give it a high rating at all so I'm sorry if I'm part of the problem. I will say I do agree with the controls part. I remember hating this game the first few times I tried it but I'm kind of starting to enjoy it since the last time I tried it, it feels nice to get used to the controls and level design.

That's good to hear. I honestly don't care if you like the game or not. I just found it strange how disliked some of these older arcade games are. Back then, most people agreed that Strider was good. I dunno what happened since then.

@Angel_Arle There's nothing to feel bad about for liking a game or not.
@EZ_PZ Backloggd doesn't have very many users and has cliques and from my experience it leans younger than sites like Gamefaqs or communities like subreddits dedicated to retro games.

That said I have noticed most Strider reviews here are more positive lately.
