Celeste is one of the most highly regarded indie games of all-time, so I decided to give it a try after seeing it on the eShop for only $5, despite my reservations toward precision platformers.

I found Celeste's story to be lovely, but the trial and error gameplay loop of dying hundreds of times is not my idea of fun. To the game's credit, the pacing is done well enough that I saw it through to credits (and nearly 1500 deaths), but I was relieved when it was over and have no desire to do the extra stuff. I do give credit to the developers for including the assist mode. I didn't end up using it, but I do wonder if I would have enjoyed the game more with it.
