An excellent, almost 1 on 1 remake of a really beloved classic. Polished every possible mechanic from the previous titles in the REngine continuity and does its best to preserve the absurd, comedic nature of the original including the anime-esque action, but understandably cuts some of the most goofy aspects to go in accordance with the overall, more grounded and serious tone of these remakes.

Gorgeous in regards of visuals and sound design, great controller scheme templates to favor fluidity and many more accessibility options. Gameplay is smooth and makes you feel rewarded after surviving intense encounters. Lots of replayability value here as you target the harder challenges and unlockables, incentives to make each one of your runs different from the previous one as you progress. You can feel how you're progressively getting better in combat, the game feels pleasant to master as you get stronger, faster, more resourceful and tactical with each passing playthrough (I'm in the middle of my second one while writing this btw).

My only two dislikes were the exclusion of my favorite boss fight from the original: the U-3; and the dull voice acting for Ada Wong, but aside from those issues I consider it a very exciting action-horror shooter and the correct way to redo an already perfect game which didn't need a remake, or so we thought.
