It was ok. I had kinda high expectations for the story and dungeons and was disappointed on both, particularly the story. However, the game is pretty cool. Aesthetically/visually the game is beautiful. I love the Zonai technology/structures and the character designs for new and existing characters. Link's new abilities are cool too, though I don't think I got as much out of the master hand as the game would have liked me to. As for the world, it was surprisingly fresh for a while, especially with the surprising addition of the depths. However, both these depths and the sky islands eventually wore out their welcome as they are generally very barren.
The game's story / structure was pretty fun at first, but it's really disappointing how repetitive and dull it gets by the end. Why should I care about these secret stones? Why is the story trying so hard to be Ocarina of Time? Where do these games fit in the timeline? I know the gameplay doesn't need the lore to make sense for it to be good, but part of the fun of these games are the connections and world building. It would be ok if the game was a sort of reboot if the self contained characters and story were fun and interesting beyond a surface level. Even if Wind Waker had no relation to Ocarina of Time, its world and characters were fun and cool and endearing enough to stand on their own (and took much less time to experience!). Sorry but a remixed version of the world of the previous game and an interesting premise isn't enough to create a satisfying game. I was very appreciative of Breath of the Wild being way more open ended in design, but now with this game I really hope the next can at least be a happy medium between the old style and the new.
