Existentialism, the game.

Alone With You does what it says on the tin. It's a game about being alone in a desolate environment trying to survive and reveal the tragedy of what happened there. It's a surprisingly emotional experience and it really did evoke the feeling of loneliness as I played it and slightly more than that as the story delves more into other characters questioning what truly makes people who they are.

Presentation wise this a good looking title. As far as I can tell it's made by only a few people but despite that it's excellent art design and usage of colour make it a gorgeous looking pixel title.

The game mechanics are a little bit puzzle and adventure exploration as your character goes to different parts of the planet scavenging parts of this doomed colonization colony from facility to facility. The gameplay elements are fine but not super interesting, I will say it works better as a first run experience and comes across as a little mundane on a second run.

I feel that's part of the charm on the first run though, these tasks to stay alive and reveal more of the story as it progresses. The game has genuine thoughtful emotional impact behind it and reminds me of Soma quite a bit. That's a compliment.

Recommended.

+ Great art and colour design.
+ Interesting story and characters.

- Gameplay is very stale on a second playthrough.
