As my first experience with Super Mario RPG, this was fantastic. It scratched the itch I was having for a game akin to old-school Paper Mario (it helps that the original SMRPG basically laid the groundwork for what PM would go on to do), and it's beautiful how much they respected the original game when crafting this remake. It may have taken 27 years, but I'm happy to see Nintendo bring this back out, and the fact that they brought it out in such a wonderful way is icing on the cake. And as Nintendo's final major release of 2023...goddamn, what an amazing year for them.
