Tbh, I put that in specifically to highlight that I think that FE4 is a game that benefits significantly from emulation QOL updates in certain respects, moreso than a lot of other games of this era. I've been seeing a lot of praise for this game in recent years and it seemingly comes from a younger crowd that played this game pretty far outside of its original historical context, even the western context when we first got the original fan translations several years after its original release. Which like, I was there for since I'm old. I didn't play the game back then since I've always been original hardware-only, but even in those days it seemed to play second fiddle to FE6/7 in the fandom. I suspect that a lot of the modern praise comes from people being more willing to abuse emulation speedup + the script improvements that are probably present in the most recent fan translation + online guides that help make the game's more esoteric mechanics less obtuse. But like, playing this game in the 90s or the early 2000s was a completely different experience, and more in line with how I tried to play it.
