There's no ways around it. Guitar Hero: World Tour was Activision's attempt to play catch-up with Rock Band, which already established the 4-player band format. I WOULD say Activision were probably regretting the buyout without Harmonix, but this and 3--as far as I know--sold better than its competitor.

Anyway, while Guitar Hero 3 already had problems with its presentation, things only got uglier. And the flurry of guest appearances in gross 7th gen models only made it more embarrassing to me. Seeing an extremely unflattering "current (2008)" Ozzy Osbourne tumble on-stage looking like my grandma is just awkward.

My song taste doesn't really influence how I score this game, since it's the most subjective aspect. I feel like anything that deviated this game from the "Rock Band" experience only worsened the product, such as the asinine methods they created for bonus scores and unleashing star power for the new instruments. Overall, this was just watching a once proud rocket continue to fizzle pathetically.
