Beginning Silent Hill 3. These last two reviews are from me playing the game with my dearest girlfriend, who has fallen head over heels for the series.

Off the bat, the presence of the 2000s as a cultural moment hangs heavy over SH3. The more directly electronic sounds are creeping into both the soundtrack & soundscape, whether that's blowing out the microphone with wails of pain or more directly hip hop-y sounds creeping into the songs. The first chunk of this game, the emo/post-rock opening, Heather's moody teen internal monolog and style style, the small town mall, it's all sooooo good; a hot topic teen hellscape. Ages gracefully by being so of its time.
