Bowser is visually striking and Bowser Jr. is cute, but everything in this feels like a formality. A well-polished, functional formality, but one that I don't really ever see myself returning to, unlike every other 3d Mario. My favorite aspect of the game is how it plays with scale and recontextualizes the same environments depending on if you're on foot, riding Plessie, or a giant.

Its worst sin is really just that I never quite felt engaged.
