The Macross saga is treated with something akin to religious worship in Japan, so it's nice to see a tie-in game handled with the same reverence. The plot involves giant aliens crashing a ship into earth. When the bad guys return decades later, the vessel is called into service as the SDF-Macross, a massive battlecruiser, defended by transforming fighter jets. That's where you the player come in, taking control of one of the Variable Fighters in a quite stunning shoot-em-up. Extremely underrated, do not pass this up.
