L4D2 is the companion and sequel to L4D1 and features a lot of new weapons, infected, and maps galore.

The game is essentially an upgraded version of L4D1 only with new survivors and maps. The game is more so an addition to L4D1 as L4D2 was able to be upgraded into featuring maps and the characters from L4D2 for both Xbox 360 and for steam. Meaning that definitively it's better to get L4D2 than to buy vanilla L4D1 seperately.

The game features 4 new survivors who are up against the Green Flu Infected, these being:

- Nick (a 35 year old casino player wearing what he claims to be an expensive suit. Tends to whine a lot, and cracks jokes at the other survivors expense.)

- Ellis (a young 23 year old Hilly Billy who loves to talk about his past and about his friend Keith, which tends to annoy his fellow survivors. Has a huge and mutual crush on L4D1's Zoey based on the Passing DLC map)

- Rochelle (a news producer who was sent to Savannah to report on the Green Flu virus only to get stuck in the middle of the infection. She acts as the level headed one of the group, bringing everyone together, and is very sister like. She gets a long well with Ellis and Coach, while tends to argue with Nick)

- Coach (his name is what he did before the outbreak, that being a Football Highschool Coach, though his real name is unknown. He can be very smart, but hot headed.)

The Green Flu infection has also brought a new arsenal to the infected as L4D2 features more than just your regular horde of Zombies, but also features new Uncommon and 3 New special infected.

Starting with the Uncommon infected, most of these infected appear in specific maps of the game, and will not appear in others, but their addition is always nice, and each have a unique thing that set them apart from their standard infected counterparts. These being:

- CEDA Infected - Infected Hazmat Suit workers who are immune to flames and drop Boomer Biles

- Riot Gear Infected - Infect Riot Gear Police who are immune to bullets and melee damage from the front, to kill these dudes you have to shoot them or attack them in the back.

-Worker Infected - These infected are construction workers who are immune to the sound of pipebombs.

- Clown Infected - These infected are just dressed like clowns, and when you kill them with a melee weapon a horn sound is played.

- Mudmen - These infected only appear in "Swamp Fever" and are these infected who use the darkness of the swamp to camouflage themselves. They run all fours and when they hit you mud covers your screen.

- The Fallen Survivor - Originally only appearing in "The Passing" they now can appear all throughout L4D2, these infected are essentially survivors who got infected and carry 4 of these items: Pipe Bomb, Molotov, First Aid Kid, or Pills. The Fallen Survivor will run if startled, though Boomer Biles will cause it to act like any other infected as it will automatically run towards it like the horde.

-Jimmy Gibbs Jr- Jimmy Gibbs Jr is a Racecar driver seen on posters of Dead Center, and can only be found in L4D2 as an infected after 15 Days of Playing Dead Center, though with console commands on PC, you can spawn him in. Jimmy Gibbs Jr acts like any other infected however when he hits your screen, your screen will be covered in oil, similar to the Mudmen.

There are also 3 new special infected added to the line up of Hunters, Smokers, Boomers, Tanks, and Witches. These being:

- Charger - An infected Farmer with overalls who will charge into you at fast speeds. Once a charger is charging towards a certain direction, it will be unable to turn. When a charger charges, it will let out a yell alerting the player, however if you already heard it, it most likely is close enough to charging into you. The charger will charge and after running a certain distance or hitting a wall with the trapped survivor, it will begin to smack the survivor against the ground with it's big arm, until another survivor saves their teammate, or the charger kills the player.)

- Spitter - A support type of infected who appears to look like a old hilly billy woman due to the pigtails and outfit, or sometimes a prostitute. The Spitter has the ability to shoot stomach acid from long distances, sort of as a mix of the ability of the boomer vomiting, and the Smokers distance of shot. The Spitter is a pathetic special infected on it's own, but works well with the Hunter or Charger who has the survivor pinned on the ground, as the Spitter can spit on the ground where the Hunter or Charger has the Survivor pinned down against.)

- Jockey - Honestly you wouldn't be messed up in thinking this is just a dude on crack who happens to be in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. The Jockey will jump on the survivor and essentially ride the survivor like a horse, directing and forcing the survivor it has captured to be separated from the group by leading them to hordes or other special infected. You will know the Jockey is near because it lets out this maniacal crazy laugh.

The game features new weapons in terms of guns and melee weapons to use. The game also features in terms of the non-dlc maps, and non L4D1 maps. A total of 7 maps, 1 of them being a connection to L4D1 and another being a fanmap turned into an official map for how good it was:

1. Dead Center
2. The Passing - (Taking Place after Dead Center for the L4D2 Survivors, and taking place after "The Sacrifice" for the L4D1 Survivors. The L4D2 Survivors come across 3 of the 4 L4D1 Survivors after a major sacrifice by one of the L4D1 Survivors.)

3. Dark Carnival - (Carnival Full of Infected, and Infected Clowns)

4. Swamp Fever - (Farm and Swamp Area full of Infected, and where Mudmen appear)

5. Hard Rain

6. The Parish (Final Map in terms of the Valve story of L4D2 starting with Dead Center and ending in The Perish)

7. Cold Stream - Fan Community Map

The game thanks to be updated and being able to be combined with L4D1 on PC, you essentially have both L4D1 and L4D2 in one game, allowing for features from L4D2 to be apart of L4D1, like the special infected and some weapons.

The game is the definitive way to play both L4D1 and L4D2. The game has a great pc modding community, making the experience great for anyone playing pc, not so much for console. Though thanks to backwards compatibility, you can play L4D2 on Xbox One and Series Consoles.

The game is a great to always go back to, and on PC it always gets new mods for guns, characters, and maps that will suffice, especially since the longevity of it's community is alive and well due to how bad BACK4BLOOD was.

We'll probably never get a L4D3 game, but the community keeps L4D2 alive and strong. I recommend this game to anyone who wants a fun, multiplayer zombie game.
