Put 10+ hours into this, my first FromSoftware "Soulslike" title. I respect Miyazaki's design philosophy, and I totally felt a sense of incredible achievement when I studied and eventually overcame a tough foe. It's a worthy game play system.

And yet, it's also just boilerplate hack-and-slash in repetitive, grimey environments that are easy to get lost in not because they're maze-like, but because barely anything stands out with its recycled, drab visual style.

I know this game had tons of lore and allegedly if I invest dozens of hours on YouTube I'll really enjoy the story. But as presented, it's just a lot of flavor text and vague references that don't really motivate me to WANT to explore, or save this miserable world. I need SOME stakes.

Idk if I'll ever come back to these but I wanted to give one of these a try and see what the hype is about. That said, it's not for me.
