The CRASH games are not "played." They are "endured."

It's not about learning and mastering a thoughtfully laid out progression of skills and challenges, it's about surviving clunky level design, poor enemy collision detection, and sloppy platforming brought on by an inefficent camera angle. Crash 1 doesn't even offer enough level variety to break up the pain. Crash 2 introduces some promising concepts in open level selection and new world themes, but it keeps all of the bad core elements intact. I didn't even have the patience to get to Crash 3.

This is not a "challenging" platformer. DONKEY KONG COUNTRY is a "challenging" platformer. SONIC 3 is a "tough" platformer. Crash is obnoxious jank, masked by bodacious 90's attitude.
