A history making game, in that it's the first time I've ever returned a Switch title for a refund out of pure dissatisfaction.

A competent Mario Sports game that utterly becomes worthless when you see how bare bones it is in terms of play modes. Sparse and redundant Tournaments against CPUs and a boring Quick Play option are all you get on your own; with the skills earned seeming necessary for the online Season mode.

But Striker's Club is where this game's shame kicks into high gear. They sold me on the idea of getting up to 20 players together in organized Teams and playing together online. Problem is, you can't play with more than 1 other team member online at a time, unless you're hosting secondary local friends on the same Switch (i.e. 2 players locally on my console paired with 2 players on an internet connected Switch).

I couldn't get team online play going with 2 of my long distance friends from their own switches. It's 2 v 2 against strangers, or nothing.

This isn't just inexcusable for a game that markets itself on forming in-game communities, it's inexcusable that it's 2022 and Nintendo can't work 4 player multiplayer into a game this bare bones. You can do it in Splatoon 2 and Mario Golf Super Rush, but not here? HOW IS IT NOT POSSIBLE?
