Just lovely with a storybook aesthetic that was wondrously nostalgic even back when I played it on initial release. This go round I was impressed by how well the battle system conveyed itself and found ways to keep things engaging despite the simple clarity of single-digit damage numbers and the like. The bundling of character and mechanics in the “partners” is a magic idea.
