Many people got mad at this game. The feeling that I got at the end of it was sadness. I'm always grieved when a premise that could've become something amazing, turns out to be something less than enjoyable. Because Shadow of the Tomb Raider has great ideas of turning Lara's greed against herself and challenging concepts of good vs evil. However, these ideas are all buried six feet deep in a narrative that, despite being labelled as "Lara's defining moment", is devoid of emotions. There's no sense of achievement; even the tragedy, which the game tries to throw at our faces, becomes meaningless. As a character, Lara is a hollow vessel that speaks some didactic, moralist lines (or painfully obvious and/or repetitive observations and tips) before proceeding to the next tomb - which is a double shame considering Camilla Luddington's excellent voice acting.

The greater focus on tomb raiding is appreciated, though they should consider rethinking the gameplay structure. For some reason, the animations in this are awful, often to the point of horrendous. I avoid blaming the devs because the previous two games were much better in this regard, so I'm left wondering what happened during the production of this game.

After playing through the main campaign, I find no motivation to keep exploring despite an easy trophy blinking at me.
