Graphics - 10/10
Great for SNES, and using a lot of the Super Nintendo's features to add depth to the game

Story - 9/10

Sound - 8/10
Good OST, and includes songs you would hear later on in the series.

Replay Value - 7.5/10
This isn't going to be a game you IMMEDIATELY pick back up to play, but this is great for Speedrunners who want to skip parts of the game that didn't know about or for people who want to perfect this game to play it without the use of a guide. It's also interesting to find those weak points in bosses to make them easier as well and to see which items you collect and don't collect towards your 100% item goal.

Control - 8/10
The game has a set feature in the main menu to allows you to set what feels comfortable to you when using the controller. I think this is a major plus as some games (only a few I've heard of) don't actually have this. The games control feels good, but after a while of getting upgrades you may seem to be lost in the item selection, but it's not something crazy to get used to. Basic Controls are easy to follow.

Difficulty 7/10
This game is not for the casual players, but if you keep practicing certain elements of the game using restore points (which is a common tool used nowadays in these games on their online streaming services) you can clear areas easier or find hidden areas. First time players, I recommend having some form of a guide on standby (I don't care what people say, I won't judge you) and use it only if you get super super lost to help you find items or your next destination. The game does ramp up in difficulty as you get to the end of the game so good luck.

Final Verdict - 4.5 out of 5. Great game with tons of great elements. In my opinion one of the Super Nintendo's token titles. Shows off the power of the Super Nintendo and sets up the Metroid story further. There are many ways to play this gem so you don't miss out on it, but nowadays I would recommend the SNES Mini for at home players and if you're a traveler there's the Nintendo Switch Online (as long as your place of hospitality has internet--even then you can play the games offline for a few days first). There is also the New Nintendo 3DS/2DS line as well. This is a must play title
