A wonderful treatise on the intersection of art and religion in a pre-enlightment world. Thought-provoking and humanist while retaining a staggering amount of choice and consequence throughout the game's acts. The final twist was a little obvious, but still worked for me. Everything about this game was just absolutely wonderful, from art to the sound design to the story itself, just fantastic and gripping from start to finish. there's so much passion here, from all the little bespoke drawings in the pause screen to the ways that every caste of society has their dialogue written in a different font (sometimes changing when the protagonist gets new information about their past), the ways words are occasionally misspelled and subsequently corrected, everything is just excellent. a true work of art in every sense of the word.

Pentiment is an incredibly specific game about an incredibly specific time period in a very specific part of the world yet still manages to hold themes that are becoming more and more relevant as we once again enter into a world where religious values hold more worth than the written word.

Obsidian at its absolute best - where was this type of writing in the Outer Worlds? Cannot recommend Pentiment enough
