Villagers in this are the most robotic they've ever been. It's hard for me to feel like I'm in a cozy town with all these characters when they run out of dialogue in less than a week of playing. You can't really build a relationship with them, it doesn't matter if you're the meanest or the nicest person as soon as you leave the screen they will forget everything that happened. In practice there's only 6 different possible villagers since every other villager with the same personality type is just a different texture. A lot of the events in the game you can't even engage on them and just stand there watching, and the ones you can participate are usually annoying (Halloween being a prime example).
