I will go to the grave swearing this game is overrated. The gameplay is fun up to a point. But from a writing and storytelling standpoint, it’s a shambles. It never rises above a muddy pastiche of western cliches. The main character is a cipher. You spend your whole playing time fighting for a family you don’t mean until the end - and when you do, they’re totally anonymous. Plus some moron wrote in a Polygon review that it was the greatest western of all time - BARF - because unlike all other westerns, it’s about the closing of the frontier. ALL WESTERNS. ARE ABOUT.
