That old saying "wow they made mario in 3d" for mario 64 didn't really hit me when i played for the first time last year, however, Metroid prime, even 20 years after it's original realease, left me with the awe of playing super metroid in 3d.

Playing prime after i had played all of the 2d ones in the last years felt like a 1:1 translation of the feeling in those games to the 3d realm. The exploration is wonderful, the upgrades are always something that change the game, the worlds are interesting and unique, the characters and encounters are all great.

Of course it has some things that didn't age that well, like the lack of more save and transport spots, the way you can't tell in the map after getting the morph or grappling upgrades where to go and some modern things like map markers and so on but nothing that ever stood in the way of this great game.

Metroid prime was a great surprise to me, even though i still prefer the 2d ones, it's a nice change in the series that definitely deserves the 4 entry whenever they decide it's time for that to come out.
