In case you're not familiar with how From soft identity themselves with their works let me quickly preface this review by saying you're gonna die. many times, they will be many adversaries, a lot of exasperating obstacles that you will need to get by and at times it may feel very disheartening and very hard to keep moving forward, but with death comes knowledge and with knowledge comes information, and it's up to you to analyse your enemies patterns and use your knowledge to defeat them, it's all part of the Bloodborne experience so keep on dying. 👍

The gameplay ties into the story so well, every weapon that you'll be holding, every attire that you'll be wearing has it's own story for you to read through, everything will always bear some some degree of significance to the lore or a character within Bloodborne, rarely do you see developers give the time and effort to expand it's own world and clue us in some of the history for us to piece together, this kind of ludonarrative resonance, and that overlapping between gameplay and story makes the game that much more lovable and easier to get invested in.

The atmosphere is truly something i spend time admiring in Bloodborne, it consistently makes use of it's decaying and cursed world throughout the entirety of the game with different color palettes in each area, it's so beautiful, but not just in an atmospherical sense but when your traversing through an area there are small details that you'll be using as context clues to attempt to unravel the lore whilst you're progressing and if you ever feel like replaying Bloodborne, you'll notice that every little detail had some significance in being placed in that exact spot and you'll catch every little nuance that Bloodborne's world has to offer.

There are so many ways to go about replaying Bloodborne, there isn't just one "right way" to play it, there are so many different builds and ways to play Bloodborne that will make the game still feel fresh, and due to Bloodborne's world building being so detailed, you can do a whole playthrough of it for the 5th time and still be able to uncover new secrets that connect with Bloodborne's lore.

Bloodborne's storytelling is very ambiguous, rarely does Bloodborne elaborate on it's self and is left purposefully vague and it's up to us, the hunter to come up with our own unique interpretations. That kind of vague and ambiguous storytelling augmented with the cosmic horror and the mysteries of Bloodborne's world really do well to compliment eachother and really fit the tone of Bloodborne as a whole. To have a better understanding of Bloodborne's story and world, it relies on you exploring the environment, as someone who has played the entirety of Bloodborne more than 10 times, i still find myself coming up with more arcane interpretations, discovering new items and obscure NPC side-quests. Everytime i do a full replay of Bloodborne i find myself understanding it a little better, that's where the beauty in Bloodborne's obscure storytelling really shines for me. You don’t just have some guy explaining/narrating everything to you or anything. You just wake up as this fresh corpse in a world you have zero clue about. Bloodborne is it's own mystery and it's up to you to uncover the depths of this mystery. Bloodborne's side characters functionally are great, they help support/showcase Bloodborne's themes/ideas, they all have their own short yet tragic story of their own that adds a lot of weight on Bloodborne already chaotic world & atmosphere.
