IMO, Super Metroid is without a doubt the best SNES game and one of the all time best games.
The game is replayable to an absurd degree and has the most freedom I've ever had in a game.
You can truly play this game the way you wish to play. An example of this is thinking "Can I make it here?" and being able to actually get to said point despite not having the intended power up to get to said place.
Each playthrough can feel completely different from the last depending on how you approach it.
In my most recent playthrough, I sequence broke so hard that I ended up fighting Crocomire with the Varia Suit and loads of Super Missiles and Power Bombs, decimating him with one shot.
However, freedom is not the only thing that makes Super Metroid as incredible as it is.
The OST is incredible, effortlessly immersing you into the world while being an absolute jam to listen to (ESPECIALLY Upper Brinstar when the music kicks in as you approach in an elevator).
The game also lets you learn things on your own and when stuff is told to you (Shine Spark and Wall Jumping), it is done in a very well "Show but don't tell" fashion. (This also applies to the story as well).
Samus in this game is very floaty, which may be annoying to some players and a gripe I completely understand. However, playing the game enough and it can be very easy to get used to.
There are many MANY more things I could discuss when talking about this masterpiece, but it would take too long lmao.
Long story short, this game is an absolute masterpiece that I cannot recommend enough.
