It's really fucking great how this feels like a Mario game that just happens to star Wario instead. The level design and general game feel like the logical evolution of Mario Land 2, but I think Wario's moveset and the emphasis on hoarding treasure is enough to make this feel distinct from the series it spawned from.

I think there's a handful of moments that really take advantage of the shoulder bash or Wario's power ups, and a few levels that do interesting things (mostly those leaning in an exploratory direction), but this didn't do too much else that I found all that inspired. Just a firmly okay platformer that tries to answer the question of what a Wario game would look like.
