A fun if a little flawed Doom-esque boomer shooter that manages to refine the wheel with a gorgeous and pretty demented artstyle. Absolutely loved how grainy things looked and the copious amounts of blood definitely helped. Weapons also really packed a punch, although I'd definitely say a lot of the early stuff falls off incredibly quick which is a shame since some like the Shredder have cool ideas but just get outclassed. Levels feel pretty good too with lots to explore especially later ones with the movement abilities unlocked. That being said my biggest issue with Prodeus is said unlock process, as the ore needed is found very scarcely in levels and requires ample amounts of secret hunting. Not a bad thing until you realize just how many of these ores require the movement abilities to obtain, leading to having to replay entire levels for one or two ores (while also navigating a too big map). Once you get the unlocks the game does open up and become more fun but the process could've had some trimming down in my opinion. Besides that Prodeus is a phenomenal shooter and definitely one of my favorites of the year.

9/10
