It took me a while to come back to this game, and I'm glad I did because it was charming, fun, and had a couple truly memorable moments. However for how loved this game if I find myself kinda underwhelmed - I was probably expecting something at least as fun as Hollow Knight but shorter, and what I got was a very shallow and easy mini action RPG in the classic zelda style. The best moments are the boss fights because you have to put a bit more care into what you're doing and I honestly think the game could have been all boss fights and exploring for how shallow and mashy the combat feels.

My biggest problem with this game however is the tone; a serious story about the importance of death and its impact on those around us? Or a very silly cartoon where Death is a minor character that has no real substance, instead focusing on goofy umms and aaahs ? It never picks a side and that makes the very small amount of writing in the game kind of frustrating because without a clear message the writing never strikes a good balance because you never know how its supposed to make you feel. Definitely worth a playthrough if it looks like your kinda game, but I didn't come away with my life changed.
