It's been over 10 years since I played the original Return to Dream Land, and while I did really like it I was initially confused as to why Nintendo chose to remake this. Playing the remake though made me realize that this is actually one of the better Kirby games, and this remake is just a straight up superior version of it thanks to the visuals and extra content.

I don't really have much else to say about it. The level design is great, bosses are fun, there's a ton of powerups (going from Forgotten Land to this really emphasizes how few powers that game has), and it can get surprisingly challenging at times. This isn't pure baby mode Kirby like Star Allies, especially if you're going for 100%.

The main new additions to the game, Merry Magoland and Magolor Epilogue are great too. The former is basically a minigame collection with missions that can get pretty challenging, while the latter is a post-game mode where you play as Magolor and can level up your abilities. The Epilogue is pretty short, probably can be beaten in a couple hours, but was fun enough that I would like to see HAL expanding on stuff like this in future Kirby games.

It is really dumb though that we're still getting Nintendo games with no online multiplayer. Like this would have been the ideal game for that, with all the minigame stuff in the Merry Magoland mode, yet it's all local co-op only. I'm sorry Nintendo, you will not force me to make actual IRL friends.
