Nintendogs was never really something that drew my interest very much, but I took a chance of this entry in the series and I regret not giving it a shot sooner. The game is a very simplistic pet simulator - feed, walk, pet, play with your dog/cat - but there is an inherent charm to the experience that really gets you attached to your virtual pet. I got a ton of use out of the pedometer mode since I walk a lot, so that was typically enough for me to boot up the game in the morning, then interact with the pets in the evening when I returned home; it felt rather rewarding - much in the same way looking after a real dog does. The fairly realistic animations on the pets adds to this feeling too, regardless of what activity they are performing.

I have since moved on from the game for the most part (its no longer part of the unintentional daily routine I had made), but it was definitely a worthwhile experience overall and I am very glad I gave it a go to begin with. The 3D effect is VERY strong though. Early 3DS game syndrome, I suppose.
