One of my brothers favorites, I remember watching him play some of the city sections when we were younger back on the PS3 when this came out (circa 2013). Specifically on one occasion when he was out using the restroom or something, I remember picking up the controller and trying to play through Ellie's sniping sequence without any knowledge of how the game worked. Ah the good times.....
I don't recall what sprung me to play through this game in its entirety, as it had sat on our shelves for years and never jumped out to me previously. I must admit that I am glad I did. I grew up on games like Uncharted, rooted in basic puzzle solving areas, and the NaughtyDog style served as a good nostalgia trip for me. It was amazing to experience something that felt familiar and comfortable in a new light with entirely new areas and storylines. And the story. Amazing. Sounds cliché, but really the way that it is developed in this game is masterful. The giraffe seen gets me every time. The development of Joel into his fatherly figure, now accepting Ellie, and the subtle notions that Ellie is no longer the cheerful child she was previous to the cannibal camp. It just rips your heart out.
