BoTW Mini Review

Pros:
+ Open world is fun to explore
+ Technical physics engine
+ Ambient environment and music
+ Charming character and world design
+ Allows complete freedom

Cons
- Performance issues
- Dungeons and bosses feel too similar
- Story loses steam after Great Plateau
- Areas feel too empty and rely too much on Korok Seeds

Conclusion: BoTW is an amazingly designed open world adventure game with just not enough unique content to satisfy it’s entire adventure’s length. While the freedom the game provides is very refreshing, it also is perhaps what causes the game’s biggest faults. Having to design the entire game around as if it’s the players first thing they have encountered outside of the tutorial. This especially is something that heavily impacted the story, since a lot of the more interesting bits are located in flashback cutscenes, which makes a lot of the stories core emotional points ring hollow.

Still, I highly recommend any open world fan to play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Score: 8/10
