Felt like it kind of missed the point of Pikmin 1 with its alien-planet sense of wonder and gentle pressure, trading it for instead an at-your-pace railroad of 'you got a treasure!' messages while you pick up trinkets and trash. And the controls didn't even get much better from what little i played..

edit except the pikmin AI is better. Also I'm willing to cede that the combat and boss/enemy variety is also better, but I just find it doesn't work as a whole
