What if Pikmin was... more! That's what the developers of Pikmin 2 must have had in mind when designing the sequel to their Gamecube launch title, Pikmin. Gone with the time limitation of the first game, Pikmin 2 has more of everything. More Pikmin, more enemies, more to collect, more to see, more to do. Beautiful overworld visuals help to create a coherent world with much more variety than it's predecessor, from snowy tundras to warm and sunny beaches. However, the game lacks that kind of variety in it's main content filled areas: the caves. A contentious topic among Pikmin series fans, nobody can seem to figure out if caves were the best or worst thing to ever happen to Pikmin. I don't have much to add in terms of the arguements, but I do think that it's not touched on often how good of a replay experience Pikmin 2 is because of the caves. The randomly generated experiences of each cave make it a great game to replay, almost a roguelike experience of sorts. I would definitely recommend giving Pikmin 2 a try, the snappier and more intuitive controls alone make it an easier game to play than Pikmin 1.
