The fact that this is amongst the first games I ever played probably influences my opinions of it.
But to this day, I believe it is the pinnacle of arcadey fun, with well-designed tracks and incredibly tight controls.
A game so perfect that my mum would practice it while I was at school just so she could try and beat me.
