METROID IS BACK!
Metroid Dread is the best singleplayer game I have played on the Switch, and is one of the greatest Metroid's made!

I completed it last night and just w o w Mercury Steam did a fantastic job on the return of 2D Metroid. This IS Metroid down to a tee. The non-linear action/adventure exploration franchise I grew up with, the one that created a whole new genre, is BACK! Dread is also a great balance between the complete sprawling open non-linearity of Super Metroid and the invisible hand-holding of Zero Mission. It has a really well done atmosphere that does invoke a feeling of...well Dread LMAO, especially when in E.M.M.I zones, but the environment as a whole doesn't really pop out to me as much as the previous games. It's still a good environment though, with a great mix of organic and mechanical areas across ZDR. It's music, while being quite atmospheric, doesn't really have many memorable tracks which is a shame considering Metroid has an insane amount of earworms under its belt. Those boss fights though, oh my god they're amazing, and that ending was INSANE LMAO.

METROID 5! IT'S HERE! People have been born and become adults in the time between Samus' last journey and Dread, AND IM ONE OF THEM. Fusion released in 2002, I was born in 2003, Dread released in 2021. 19 YEARS BETWEEN RELEASES. I've lived all my life with the story of the 4 mainline Metroid games, it obviously not continuing, it stayed still. So it was so so so surreal witnessing the continuation of this saga. I love it so much and I cannot wait to go back through it multiple times trying to beat it as fast as I can!
