Playing this game blind with no FromSoft experience was a bit like getting your balls crushed only to realize that you're kind of into it. I was very lost and confused for my first ten hours or so. So lost that I wound up in Blighttown before I had even found Bell Gargoyles. I eventually started using the IGN guide just to make sure I wasn't jumping the gun and visiting late game areas too early. I started enjoying the game quite a bit more after that. It's such a beautifully crafted world, with incredible level design and atmosphere. I've only played this game once but even still I have such a firm understanding of the entire map and how all of the areas relate to each other, which I can't say for most games I play. The combat is kinda janky due to some strange hitboxes, with many attacks from both me and the enemies just missing for seemingly no reason. I also felt like the dodge roll was inconsistent, though I could just not be used to it. The bosses were also very hit or miss, with only a handful of them being good in my eyes. The rest are average to sub-par to downright awful. Despite all of that, this was an unforgettable gaming experience and I am 100% converted to a FromSoft fan. I plan on playing Elden Ring next.
