I was pretty prepared to try this out once or twice and then bounce back to playing AOE2 a whole bunch again. A number of RTS games have managed to get their hooks deep into me but none have had the lasting appeal of Age 2. Command and Conquer had a few really good entries but I haven't revisited them in a long long time. I've tried Age 1 and 3 several times and I like them well enough, but I don't really feel like playing them regularly. Age four is like Age 2 with a 3D engine and some more variation between factions. I've really been enjoying getting to know the strengths and weaknesses of each civilization and learning how the new unit types work. I still have AOE2 installed, and I will probably go back to it. But 4 is finally a pretty good follow-up, and I'm excited to see how they support it in the coming years.
